## 3. Practice Quizzes

### 3.1 Quiz Delivery and Practice Modes
**What it does:** Lets the Student take practice quizzes on specific topics to reinforce learning. Quizzes are shorter than exams and available in different practice modes: timed, untimed, and focus mode (targeting weak topics). The Student can take quizzes any number of times to practice.

**Sub-features:**
- Start a practice quiz on a chosen topic
- Practice modes: timed, untimed, focus (weak topics)
- Focus mode auto-selects the Student's weak topics
- Quiz length (number of questions)
- Immediate feedback option (see result after each question)
- Unlimited retakes for practice
- Quiz available from a course, topic, or the practice hub
- Quiz session event logging (start, answer, end)
- Audit logging of the quiz delivery

**Student User Journey:**
1. Student opens the "Practice" hub and selects a topic (Quadratic equations).
2. Student chooses the "Focus" mode; the quiz targets their weak questions on that topic.
3. Student starts the quiz; questions appear one at a time.
4. With immediate feedback on, after each answer the Student sees whether it was correct.
5. The quiz ends after the set number of questions; the score is shown.
6. Student retakes the quiz in "Untimed" mode to practice without pressure.
7. Student opens Profile → "Activity" and confirms the quiz sessions are recorded.

**Rules & Edge Cases:**
- Practice quizzes allow unlimited retakes; they do not count toward a single exam attempt.
- Focus mode selects questions from the Student's identified weak topics.
- Immediate feedback, when on, shows correctness after each question.
- Timed mode enforces a per-quiz time limit; untimed mode does not.
- Quiz sessions are logged with the topic, the mode, and the timestamp.
- The quiz delivery is audit-logged with the account, the quiz, and the timestamp.

### 3.2 Quiz Results and Instant Feedback
**What it does:** Shows the Student the result of a practice quiz with instant feedback: score, correct/incorrect per question, and the correct answer with a brief explanation. The result updates the topic's practice statistics and feeds the weak-topic identification.

**Sub-features:**
- Quiz score and percentage
- Per-question correct/incorrect with the correct answer
- Brief explanation per question
- Topic practice statistics (attempts, average score)
- Result feeds weak-topic identification
- "Practice again" action
- Results history for practice quizzes
- Results event logging
- Audit logging of the quiz results

**Student User Journey:**
1. Student finishes a practice quiz and sees the score (80%).
2. The per-question review shows which were correct and incorrect, with the correct answer for each.
3. A brief explanation is shown for a missed question.
4. The topic's practice statistics update (3 attempts, average 75%).
5. The weak-topic list updates if the topic's average is below the threshold.
6. Student clicks "Practice again" and starts a new attempt.
7. Student opens the practice results history and sees past quiz scores.
8. Student opens Profile → "Activity" and confirms the results events are recorded.

**Rules & Edge Cases:**
- The quiz score is the percentage of correct answers.
- Practice quiz results feed the topic practice statistics and weak-topic identification.
- "Practice again" starts a fresh attempt; it does not overwrite the previous result.
- The results history retains all practice quiz attempts.
- Results events are logged with the quiz, the score, and the timestamp.
- The quiz results is audit-logged with the account, the quiz, and the timestamp.

### 3.3 Daily Practice and Streaks
**What it does:** Encourages consistent practice by offering a daily practice set and tracking a practice streak. Completing the daily set increments the streak; missing a day resets it (subject to a grace rule). The streak feeds the gamification module (points, badges).

**Sub-features:**
- Daily practice set generated for the Student
- Complete the daily set to increment the streak
- Streak counter shown on the dashboard
- Streak resets on a missed day (with a grace rule)
- Streak feeds gamification (points, badges)
- Daily set adapts to weak topics
- Streak history view
- Streak event logging (increment, reset)
- Audit logging of the daily practice and streaks

**Student User Journey:**
1. Student opens the dashboard and sees "Daily practice — 5 questions" with a streak of 4 days.
2. Student completes the daily set; the streak increments to 5 and points are awarded.
3. The dashboard shows the updated streak.
4. The daily set the next day targets the Student's weak topics.
5. If Student misses a day, the streak resets (subject to the grace rule).
6. Student opens the streak history and sees the run of consecutive days.
7. Student opens Profile → "Activity" and confirms the streak events are recorded.

**Rules & Edge Cases:**
- The daily set is generated once per day; completing it increments the streak.
- The streak resets on a missed day, subject to a configured grace rule.
- The streak feeds gamification (points, badges) per the platform's rules.
- The daily set adapts to the Student's weak topics.
- Streak events (increment, reset) are logged with the date and the timestamp.
- The daily practice and streaks is audit-logged with the account, the date, and the timestamp.
