## 1. Screen Time & Usage Limits

### 1.1 Daily Screen Time Limits
**What it does:** Lets the Parent set daily screen time limits for the child's platform usage. The Parent sets a maximum number of minutes per day, and the child is notified as they approach the limit. When the limit is reached, the child's access is paused until the next day or until the Parent extends it. This helps the Parent manage the child's screen time.

**Sub-features:**
- Set a daily screen time limit (minutes)
- Child notified as they approach the limit
- Access paused when the limit is reached
- Parent can extend the limit
- Limit reset at the start of each day
- Limit available on web and mobile
- Limit event logging (set, extended, reached)
- Audit logging of the daily screen time limits

**Parent User Journey:**
1. Parent opens the child's parental controls.
2. Parent sets a daily screen time limit (90 minutes).
3. The child is notified as they approach the limit.
4. The child's access is paused when the limit is reached.
5. Parent extends the limit for the day.
6. The limit resets at the start of the next day.
7. Parent opens Profile → "Activity" and confirms the limit events are recorded.

**Rules & Edge Cases:**
- The limit is in minutes per day.
- The child is notified as they approach the limit.
- Access is paused when the limit is reached.
- The limit resets at the start of each day.
- Limit events (set, extended, reached) are logged with the account and the timestamp.
- The daily screen time limits is audit-logged with the account and the timestamp.

### 1.2 Time-of-Day Restrictions
**What it does:** Lets the Parent set time-of-day restrictions on the child's platform access. The Parent defines allowed and blocked time windows (e.g., no access after 9 PM, no access during school hours). The child's access is restricted outside the allowed windows. This helps the Parent structure the child's day.

**Sub-features:**
- Set allowed time windows
- Set blocked time windows
- Access restricted outside allowed windows
- Restriction schedule (daily, weekdays, weekends)
- Restriction status shown to the child
- Restrictions available on web and mobile
- Restriction event logging (set, applied)
- Audit logging of the time-of-day restrictions

**Parent User Journey:**
1. Parent opens the child's time-of-day restrictions.
2. Parent sets an allowed window (4 PM to 9 PM).
3. Parent sets a blocked window (after 9 PM).
4. The child's access is restricted outside the allowed windows.
5. The restriction schedule is set (weekdays).
6. The restriction status is shown to the child.
7. Parent opens Profile → "Activity" and confirms the restriction events are recorded.

**Rules & Edge Cases:**
- The restrictions are time windows.
- Access is restricted outside the allowed windows.
- The restriction schedule is daily, weekdays, or weekends.
- Restriction events (set, applied) are logged with the account and the timestamp.
- The time-of-day restrictions is audit-logged with the account and the timestamp.

### 1.3 Usage Alerts
**What it does:** Alerts the Parent when the child's usage approaches or exceeds the set limits. The Parent is notified in-app and, where enabled, by email when the child is near the limit or has exceeded it. This keeps the Parent aware of the child's usage patterns.

**Sub-features:**
- Alert when usage approaches the limit
- Alert when usage exceeds the limit
- In-app and email alert channels
- Alert with usage details
- Alert frequency control
- Alert event logging (sent, opened)
- Audit logging of the usage alerts

**Parent User Journey:**
1. The child's usage approaches the limit; the Parent is alerted.
2. The child's usage exceeds the limit; the Parent is alerted.
3. The alerts are in-app and email.
4. The alert shows the usage details.
5. Parent sets the alert frequency.
6. The alert events are recorded.
7. Parent opens Profile → "Activity" and confirms the alert events are recorded.

**Rules & Edge Cases:**
- Alerts are sent when usage approaches or exceeds the limit.
- The alert channels are in-app and email.
- The alert frequency is controllable.
- Alert events (sent, opened) are logged with the account and the timestamp.
- The usage alerts is audit-logged with the account and the timestamp.
