## 4. Mock Test Simulation Management

### 4.1 Exam-Like Environment Configuration
**What it does:** Configures the exam-like environment for mock tests to mirror real exam conditions.
**Sub-features:**
- Environment strictness (no navigation, no copy-paste, fullscreen).
- Question palette (jump, mark for review, clear response).
- Auto-submit on time expiry.
- Proctoring options (camera, tab-switch detection).
- available on web
- event logging (action performed)
- Audit logging of exam-like environment configuration
**Super Admin User Journey:**
1. Open Target Exam Management → Mock Tests → Environment.
2. Set the environment strictness (no navigation, no copy-paste, fullscreen).
3. Configure the question palette options.
4. Enable the auto-submit and proctoring options.
5. Run a test mock and verify the environment behaves as configured.
**Rules & Edge Cases:**
- A tab-switch with proctoring on is logged as a violation (not auto-failed by default).
- An auto-submit on time expiry submits whatever is answered (unanswered = blank).
- A fullscreen requirement that cannot be met (mobile) degrades gracefully (no fullscreen).
- A no-navigation setting still allows the question palette (documented exception).

### 4.2 Timed Test Settings
**What it does:** Configures the timing for mock tests (total duration and per-section timing).
**Sub-features:**
- Total test duration.
- Per-section timing (section-level time limits).
- Time warning thresholds (e.g., 10 min, 5 min remaining).
- Time extension rules (for approved cases).
- available on web
- event logging (action performed)
- Audit logging of timed test settings
**Super Admin User Journey:**
1. Open Mock Tests → Timing.
2. Set the total test duration.
3. Configure the per-section timing.
4. Set the time warning thresholds.
5. Define the time extension rules.
**Rules & Edge Cases:**
- A per-section time limit summing to more than the total duration is rejected.
- A time warning fires only once per threshold (no repeated pings).
- A time extension is logged and visible in the test record.
- A section time limit expiry auto-moves to the next section (unanswered = blank).

### 4.3 Previous Year Papers Management
**What it does:** Manages the previous year papers available for mock test practice.
**Sub-features:**
- Paper upload (per exam type, per year).
- Paper metadata (year, session, difficulty, source).
- Paper question tagging (topic, importance, marks).
- Paper availability (all students, per cohort, per plan).
- available on web
- event logging (action performed)
- Audit logging of previous year papers management
**Super Admin User Journey:**
1. Open Mock Tests → Previous Year Papers.
2. Upload a paper with its metadata.
3. Tag the paper's questions (topic, importance, marks).
4. Set the paper availability.
5. Verify the paper is accessible to the intended audience.
**Rules & Edge Cases:**
- A paper with no tagged questions is usable but excluded from topic analytics.
- A paper for a disabled exam type is not available to new students.
- A duplicate paper (same exam type, year, session) is rejected.
- A paper availability of per cohort is enforced (other cohorts cannot access).

### 4.4 Post-Test Analysis
**What it does:** Generates the post-test analysis after a mock test is completed.
**Sub-features:**
- Score analysis (total, per section, per question type).
- Weak area identification (topics with low accuracy).
- Time-per-section analysis (time spent vs allocated).
- Comparison (vs previous mock, vs cohort average).
- available on web
- event logging (action performed)
- Audit logging of post-test analysis
**Super Admin User Journey:**
1. Open Mock Tests → Post-Test Analysis.
2. Configure the score analysis dimensions.
3. Enable the weak area identification.
4. Set the time-per-section and comparison views.
5. Complete a mock and verify the analysis is generated.
**Rules & Edge Cases:**
- A mock with no completed attempts shows no analysis (prompt to attempt).
- A weak area is identified only for topics with a minimum attempt count.
- A comparison vs cohort average requires a minimum cohort size (else hidden).
- A re-attempted mock shows the latest attempt (history retained).

### 4.5 Mock Test Scheduling & Series
**What it does:** Schedules mock tests and organizes them into series.
**Sub-features:**
- Mock test scheduling (one-off, recurring).
- Mock test series (ordered sequence of mocks).
- Series progression rules (next mock unlocks after previous).
- Mock test reminders (before scheduled mocks).
- available on web
- event logging (action performed)
- Audit logging of mock test scheduling & series
**Super Admin User Journey:**
1. Open Mock Tests → Scheduling & Series.
2. Schedule a mock test (one-off or recurring).
3. Create a mock test series with progression rules.
4. Enable the mock test reminders.
5. Verify the schedule and series behave as configured.
**Rules & Edge Cases:**
- A recurring mock respects the recurrence end date (no infinite series).
- A series progression rule locks the next mock until the previous is completed.
- A missed scheduled mock is marked missed (not auto-rescheduled by default).
- A reminder respects the student's notification preferences.
