## 4. Storage & Device Management

### 4.1 Storage Usage and Management
**What it does:** Shows the Student how much device storage their offline downloads use, and lets them manage it. The Student sees storage used by category (videos, notes, quizzes), can free space by deleting downloads, and is warned when storage is low. This helps the Student keep enough space for new downloads.

**Sub-features:**
- Storage used by offline downloads
- Storage breakdown by category (videos, notes, quizzes)
- Delete downloads to free space
- Low storage warning
- Storage available indicator
- Bulk delete of downloads
- Storage event logging (deleted, warning shown)
- Audit logging of the storage usage and management

**Student User Journey:**
1. Student opens "Offline" → "Storage" and sees the storage used.
2. The breakdown shows videos use the most space.
3. Student deletes watched videos to free space.
4. A low storage warning is shown when space runs low.
5. Student bulk-deletes old downloads.
6. The storage available indicator updates.
7. Student opens Profile → "Activity" and confirms the storage events are recorded.

**Rules & Edge Cases:**
- Storage used is shown by category.
- Deleting downloads frees space.
- A low storage warning is shown when space is low.
- Bulk delete removes multiple downloads.
- Storage events (deleted, warning shown) are logged with the account and the timestamp.
- The storage usage and management is audit-logged with the account and the timestamp.

### 4.2 Device Management
**What it does:** Lets the Student manage which devices have their offline downloads. The Student sees their active devices, can remove a device (revoking its offline access), and is informed when a new device is used. This protects the Student's content and account.

**Sub-features:**
- List of devices with offline downloads
- Remove a device (revoke offline access)
- New device notification
- Device limit (maximum active devices)
- Offline access revoked on device removal
- Device list available on web and mobile
- Device event logging (added, removed)
- Audit logging of the device management

**Student User Journey:**
1. Student opens "Offline" → "Devices" and sees the active devices.
2. A new device is used; a notification is sent.
3. Student removes an old device.
4. The offline access is revoked on the removed device.
5. The device limit is enforced (maximum active devices).
6. Student views the device list on the mobile app.
7. Student opens Profile → "Activity" and confirms the device events are recorded.

**Rules & Edge Cases:**
- The device list shows devices with offline downloads.
- Removing a device revokes its offline access.
- A new device triggers a notification.
- A device limit (maximum active devices) is enforced.
- Device events (added, removed) are logged with the account and the timestamp.
- The device management is audit-logged with the account, the device, and the timestamp.

### 4.3 Download Security and Expiry
**What it does:** Protects the Student's downloaded content. Downloads are tied to the Student's subscription and expire when the subscription lapses or after a platform-defined period. The Student is informed when downloads are about to expire, and expired content is no longer playable. This enforces the subscription terms.

**Sub-features:**
- Downloads tied to the subscription
- Downloads expire on subscription lapse
- Downloads expire after a platform-defined period
- Expiry warning before downloads expire
- Expired content no longer playable
- Re-download after re-subscribing
- Expiry event logging (warning, expired)
- Audit logging of the download security and expiry

**Student User Journey:**
1. Student has downloaded videos while subscribed.
2. An expiry warning is shown before the downloads expire.
3. The subscription lapses; the downloads expire.
4. The expired content is no longer playable.
5. Student re-subscribes and re-downloads the content.
6. The expiry events are recorded.
7. Student opens Profile → "Activity" and confirms the expiry events are recorded.

**Rules & Edge Cases:**
- Downloads are tied to an active subscription.
- Downloads expire on subscription lapse or after the platform-defined period.
- An expiry warning is shown before expiry.
- Expired content is no longer playable.
- Expiry events (warning, expired) are logged with the content and the timestamp.
- The download security and expiry is audit-logged with the account, the content, and the timestamp.
