## 2. Mobile-First Features

### 2.1 Dark Mode
**What it does:** Provides a dark mode for the mobile app that is easy on the eyes for night study and saves battery. The Student can enable dark mode manually or set it to auto-switch based on time. The dark mode applies across the app.

**Sub-features:**
- Dark mode for the mobile app
- Manual dark mode toggle
- Auto-switch based on time
- Battery saving in dark mode
- Dark mode applies across the app
- Dark mode preference synced to the account
- Dark mode event logging (enabled, auto-switch)
- Audit logging of the dark mode

**Student User Journey:**
1. Student enables dark mode in the mobile app settings.
2. The dark theme applies across the app.
3. Student sets dark mode to auto-switch based on time.
4. The app switches to dark mode at the set time.
5. The battery saving is noted in dark mode.
6. The dark mode preference is synced to the account.
7. Student opens Profile → "Activity" and confirms the dark mode events are recorded.

**Rules & Edge Cases:**
- Dark mode is a toggle in the mobile app settings.
- Auto-switch is based on the time set by the Student.
- The dark mode applies across the app.

### 2.2 Picture-in-Picture Video
**What it does:** Lets the Student watch a video in picture-in-picture (PiP) mode. The Student can shrink the video to a floating window and continue taking notes or multitasking within the app. The video keeps playing in the floating window.

- Picture-in-picture (PiP) video mode
- Floating video player
- Watch videos while taking notes
- Multitask within the app
- PiP available on the mobile app
- PiP event logging (entered, exited)
- Audit logging of the picture-in-picture video

**Student User Journey:**
1. Student watches a video on the mobile app.
2. Student shrinks the video to a floating PiP window.
3. The video keeps playing in the floating window.
4. Student takes notes while the video plays.
5. Student multitasks within the app.
6. Student exits PiP mode.
7. Student opens Profile → "Activity" and confirms the PiP events are recorded.

- PiP is available on the mobile app.
- The video keeps playing in the floating window.
- The Student can take notes and multitask while in PiP.
- PiP events (entered, exited) are logged with the video and the timestamp.
- The picture-in-picture video is audit-logged with the account, the video, and the timestamp.

### 2.3 Smart Notifications
**What it does:** Provides smart notifications for the Student on the mobile app: study reminders, streak preservation alerts, and achievement notifications. The Student can customize quiet hours so notifications are not disruptive. Notifications are actionable (tap to open the relevant screen).

- Study reminders
- Streak preservation alerts
- Achievement notifications
- Customizable quiet hours
- Actionable notifications (tap to open)
- Notification settings on the mobile app
- Notification event logging (sent, opened)
- Audit logging of the smart notifications

**Student User Journey:**
1. Student receives a study reminder notification.
2. A streak preservation alert is sent when the streak is at risk.
3. An achievement notification is sent for a new badge.
4. Student sets quiet hours (10 PM to 7 AM).
5. Student taps a notification to open the relevant screen.
6. The notification settings are on the mobile app.
7. Student opens Profile → "Activity" and confirms the notification events are recorded.

**Rules & Edge Cases:**
- Smart notifications include study reminders, streak alerts, and achievements.
- Quiet hours suppress notifications in the set window.
