## 4. Reward System

### 4.1 Real-World Rewards
**What it does:** Lets the Parent define real-world rewards for the child's achievements: extra family time, a treat, or a privilege. The Parent links the reward to a goal or milestone, and the child earns it on achievement. The Parent tracks which rewards have been earned and redeemed. This connects the child's learning effort to meaningful real-world recognition.

**Sub-features:**
- Define a real-world reward
- Link the reward to a goal or milestone
- Child earns the reward on achievement
- Reward earned notification
- Reward redemption tracking
- Reward history
- Rewards available on web and mobile
- Reward event logging (defined, earned, redeemed)
- Audit logging of the real-world rewards

**Parent User Journey:**
1. Parent opens the reward system.
2. Parent defines a real-world reward (extra family time).
3. Parent links the reward to a milestone.
4. The child earns the reward on achievement.
5. A reward earned notification is shown.
6. The reward redemption is tracked.
7. Parent opens Profile → "Activity" and confirms the reward events are recorded.

**Rules & Edge Cases:**
- The reward is linked to a goal or milestone.
- The child earns the reward on achievement.
- The reward redemption is tracked.
- Reward events (defined, earned, redeemed) are logged with the account and the timestamp.
- The real-world rewards is audit-logged with the account and the timestamp.

### 4.2 Digital Tokens
**What it does:** Provides the child with digital tokens earned for learning achievements. The child earns tokens for completing lessons, quizzes, and milestones, and can see their token balance. The tokens can be used within the platform for platform-defined benefits. This gives the child an in-platform incentive for their effort.

**Sub-features:**
- Earn digital tokens for achievements
- Token earning rules (lessons, quizzes, milestones)
- Token balance for the child
- Tokens usable for platform benefits
- Token transaction history
- Tokens visible to both Parent and child
- Token event logging (earned, spent)
- Audit logging of the digital tokens

**Parent User Journey:**
1. The child completes a lesson; tokens are earned.
2. The child's token balance is shown.
3. The token earning rules are displayed.
4. The child uses tokens for a platform benefit.
5. The token transaction history is shown.
6. The tokens are visible to both the Parent and the child.
7. Parent opens Profile → "Activity" and confirms the token events are recorded.

**Rules & Edge Cases:**
- The tokens are earned for learning achievements.
- The tokens are usable for platform benefits.
- The tokens are visible to both the Parent and the child.
- Token events (earned, spent) are logged with the account and the timestamp.
- The digital tokens is audit-logged with the account and the timestamp.

### 4.3 Unlock Privileges
**What it does:** Lets the Parent set privileges that the child unlocks by meeting learning criteria: extended screen time, a new content category, or a feature access. The child sees the locked privileges and the criteria to unlock them, and the privilege is unlocked on meeting the criteria. This motivates the child with clear, achievable unlocks.

**Sub-features:**
- Set a privilege to unlock
- Unlock criteria (learning-based)
- Locked privilege shown to the child
- Privilege unlocked on meeting criteria
- Unlock notification to the child
- Unlocked privileges list
- Privileges available on web and mobile
- Privilege event logging (set, unlocked)

2. Parent sets a privilege (extended screen time).
3. Parent sets the unlock criteria (complete 10 lessons).
4. The locked privilege is shown to the child.
5. The child meets the criteria; the privilege is unlocked.
6. An unlock notification is shown to the child.
7. Parent opens Profile → "Activity" and confirms the privilege events are recorded.

**Rules & Edge Cases:**
- The privilege is unlocked by meeting learning criteria.
- The locked privilege is shown to the child.

- Privilege events (set, unlocked) are logged with the account and the timestamp.
