## 8.1 Compliance Alerts

### 8.1.1 Mandatory Training Alerts
**What it does:** Notifies employees when a mandatory training is assigned, when its deadline approaches, and when it is overdue, so obligations are never missed silently.

**Sub-features:**
- Assignment notification
- Approaching-deadline notification
- Overdue notification
- Per-employee alert history
- Available on web and mobile
- Event logging (viewed)
- Audit logging of the mandatory training alerts

**Corporate User Journey:**
1. A mandatory training is assigned to an employee.
2. The employee receives the assignment notification.
3. As the deadline approaches, the employee is notified.
4. If the deadline passes, the employee is notified it is overdue.
5. The alert history lists all alerts.
6. The admin opens Profile → "Activity" and confirms the events are recorded.

**Rules & Edge Cases:**
- Alerts are sent via the employee's configured channels.
- Events (viewed) are logged with the account and the timestamp.
- The mandatory training alerts are audit-logged with the account and the timestamp.

### 8.1.2 Certification Expiry Alerts
**What it does:** Notifies the certification holder and the admin when a certification is about to expire or has lapsed, triggering renewal action.

**Sub-features:**
- Expiry warning to the holder
- Expiry warning to the admin
- Lapsed certification alert
- Renewal-assignment reminder
- Available on web and mobile
- Event logging (viewed)
- Audit logging of the certification expiry alerts

**Corporate User Journey:**
1. A certification enters its expiry window.
2. The holder and the admin are warned.
3. If it lapses, a lapsed alert is sent.
4. The admin is reminded to assign the renewal.
5. The admin opens Profile → "Activity" and confirms the events are recorded.

**Rules & Edge Cases:**
- The expiry window defaults to 60 days and is configurable.
- Events (viewed) are logged with the account and the timestamp.
- The certification expiry alerts are audit-logged with the account and the timestamp.

### 8.1.3 Escalation Notifications
**What it does:** Notifies the department manager and Corporate Admin when mandatory training escalates past the configured thresholds, keeping leadership informed of compliance risk.

**Sub-features:**
- 14-day overdue escalation to the manager
- 30-day overdue escalation to the admin
- Escalation summary with affected employees
- Escalation resolution notice on completion
- Available on web and mobile
- Event logging (viewed)
- Audit logging of the escalation notifications

**Corporate User Journey:**
1. An obligation passes 14 days overdue.
2. The department manager is notified with the affected employee.
3. At 30 days, the Corporate Admin is notified.
4. When the employee completes it, a resolution notice is sent.
5. The admin opens Profile → "Activity" and confirms the events are recorded.

**Rules & Edge Cases:**
- Escalation thresholds match the Mandatory Training escalation settings.
- Events (viewed) are logged with the account and the timestamp.
- The escalation notifications are audit-logged with the account and the timestamp.
