## 2.4 Department Breakdown

### 2.4.1 Per-Department Progress
**What it does:** Breaks learning progress down by department: completion percentage, active learners, and average hours per department.

**Sub-features:**
- Completion percentage per department
- Active learners per department
- Average hours per department
- Department ranking
- Available on web and mobile
- Event logging (viewed)
- Audit logging of the per-department progress

**Corporate User Journey:**
1. The admin opens the dashboard → Departments tab.
2. Each department shows completion %, active learners, and average hours.
3. Departments are ranked by completion percentage.
4. The admin opens a department to see its employees.
5. The admin opens Profile → "Activity" and confirms the events are recorded.

**Rules & Edge Cases:**
- Departments with no enrolled employees are excluded.
- Ranking is by completion percentage, descending.
- Events (viewed) are logged with the account and the timestamp.
- The per-department progress is audit-logged with the account and the timestamp.

### 2.4.2 Per-Department Compliance
**What it does:** Shows the compliance score and overdue count per department, so the admin can see which teams carry the compliance risk.

**Sub-features:**
- Compliance score per department
- Overdue obligations per department
- Expiring certifications per department
- Drill-down to the department's obligations
- Available on web and mobile
- Event logging (viewed)
- Audit logging of the per-department compliance

**Corporate User Journey:**
1. The admin opens the dashboard → Departments → Compliance.
2. Each department shows its compliance score and overdue count.
3. Expiring certifications per department are shown.
4. The admin drills down to a department's obligations.
5. The admin opens Profile → "Activity" and confirms the events are recorded.

**Rules & Edge Cases:**
- Department scores use the same formula as the organization score.
- Events (viewed) are logged with the account and the timestamp.
- The per-department compliance is audit-logged with the account and the timestamp.

### 2.4.3 Department Comparison
**What it does:** Compares two or more departments side by side on progress, compliance, and engagement metrics, for management reviews.

**Sub-features:**
- Side-by-side comparison of up to 4 departments
- Metrics: completion, compliance, hours, active rate
- Comparison chart
- Export comparison to CSV
- Available on web and mobile
- Event logging (viewed)
- Audit logging of the department comparison

**Corporate User Journey:**
1. The admin opens the dashboard → Departments → Compare.
2. The admin selects up to 4 departments.
3. The side-by-side metrics are shown.
4. The comparison chart is displayed.
5. The admin exports the comparison to CSV.
6. The admin opens Profile → "Activity" and confirms the events are recorded.

**Rules & Edge Cases:**
- At most 4 departments can be compared at once.
- Events (viewed) are logged with the account and the timestamp.
- The department comparison is audit-logged with the account and the timestamp.
